The Selfish Column Returns: Reflections on Life and Blogging

Hello everyone, and welcome to The Selfish Column blog. Oh my, does it feel good to write these words. It has been a long time, and how I’ve missed it.

To be honest, every time I step away from my blog whether because my life is life-ing or I get caught up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle, I realize just how much I need this space. My chaos doesn’t magically get better, nor does the hustle slow down. However, the one thing I avoided was also the one thing that always centred me after a long day, and that is writing and showing up here.

Coming back to my first baby, The Selfish Column, always makes me feel calm and happy, and I vow to dedicate time to it again. I need it now more than ever.

So, let me bring you up to date on what’s been happening in my life the last six years:

  • 2020: I moved back from Alberta to Ontario (In January)
  • 2021: I got engaged
  • 2022: I got married
  • 2023: I had my first baby
  • 2024: I moved cities
  • 2025: I had my second baby

Wow. As I was writing this down, I had to take a deep breath and really take it all in. I’ve been on an upward roller coaster so many highs and it feels like I never really took a break or let my foot off the gas. So many things have happened, and in the best way possible. I haven’t truly taken the time to sit with it all. But… yeah. That’s what has been happening.

As I slow down and try to gather my thoughts, I’m getting to know this new version of me, one that now includes being a wife and a mom, titles I didn’t have when I first started this blog. I’m excited to see how a space that was created to love yourself more, chase your dreams, and never apologize for who you are or what you need, grows alongside these life-changing roles.

As we move forward, I have a couple of articles on deck, and I am working through the best way to roll them out over the coming weeks. I’m thinking either a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. Any suggestions are welcome if you love this blog.

Thank you for making it this far selfish readers.
