Hello everyone and welcome back to The Selfish Column. I hope the holidays are beginning to bring the love and cheer your way. As many of you know by now, I recently had a baby, and if you don’t know, follow me on my social media accounts so that you don’t miss out. Although I am enjoying this moment in my life, let’s be honest postpartum comes its highs and lows.
Before giving birth my iron levels were super low, and was booked in for two iron infusions at my local hospital two weeks before giving birth. My OBGYN felt that this would give me the necessary strength I would need for delivery, and boy did that come in handy. After delivering my baby, I was not expecting to hemorrhage and truthfully my doctor did not either. But this is a story for another day. But that day made me realize that keeping my health and body in check will be something I will need to take seriously as I go through my postpartum recovery.
One of the small steps I took to start this journey was adding Genestra Brands into my day and nightly routine. What is Genestra and how can you incorporate it in your life? Genestra Brands has been in the market for over 30 years and has made an impact in the vitamin and dietary world. With over 300 products in this category, Genestra Brands ensures that all their supplement is formulated with science, research, and clinical testing. While completing this research, I found that not only does Genestra Brands have some of the strictest standards in their manufacturers, but their product is checked at least three times for purity and potency. As a consumer purchasing vitamins or supplements to support my health wanting a product that is potent and not “watered down” is a priority. After completing my brief research, I felt confident and excited to join the Genestra Brands family.
Currently, I am using the HMF Woman’s Daily Probiotic and the Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamin gummies. Below I detail my thoughts and results while using each product.
The HMF Woman’s Daily Probiotic helps promote healthy vaginal flora, urinary tract health, and intestinal comfort and immune function. Another interesting fact about this probiotic is that it provides 17.6 billion CFU per capsule. CFU in microbiology refers to how viable bacteria is estimated per unit. When it comes to probiotics 1 Billion to 100 Billion CFU is considered healthy.
What is HMF?
HMF is the acronym for Human Microflora, which is proven to help people repopulate and maintain healthy levels of good bacteria in their gastrointestinal tracts. Genestra Brands also offers a probiotic that is formulated with HMF for breastfed babies. I am looking forward to adding this to my baby’s daily meals when we transition to solid food.
My Experience
Growing up I have always struggled with my gut and needed extra support in that area. As many women will tell you, pregnancy and hormone changes can affect every aspect of your body and hormone level so having something like the HMF Woman’s Daily Probiotic, felt like the right start during my postpartum journey. This probiotic is tailored to target the concerns we women might have. Some of the ways this Women’s Daily Probiotic supports your health is by targeting vaginal and urinary tract health.
I knew going into motherhood, lack of sleep would take a toll on my body and immune system, so adding the Genestra HMF probiotic allowed me to take extra care of myself. I usually take my capsule in the evening before bed, as I found it helps me wake up fresh and ready for the day. After a month of using this, I felt the balance I needed in my life and was a great addition to my routine.
The Hair, Skin and Nails gummies were a must for me. One of the biggest changes was the loss of hair during the first three months. I always had decently strong nails and my skincare game was always on point, but I knew as a new mom this would change. Having the Hair, Skin & Nails gummies really helped with maintaining these areas of concern. This Vitamin gummies has a great blend of keratin, biotin, zinc and vitamin C.
Let’s Talk Science
According to the Cleveland Clinic Keratin is naturally found and produced by our body, it supports healing wounds and keeps the health of your hair and nails (Cleveland Clinic).
Biotin also known as Vitamin H is also part of the B vitamins group which helps with breaking down carbs, and helping the body metabolize fat and protein. Research completed by Mount Sinai shares that your body needs biotin to metabolize carbs. As a woman who does not have her 25-year-old body anymore anything that can help with burning fat and making me metabolize food faster, please send it my way.
Zinc supports the growth of functioning immune cells, as well as repairing damaged cells. Zinc is also great to combat inflammation from a wound (Harvard T.H Chan) and after giving birth, your body feels like a big wound.
Vitamin C is great for tissue repair, and our skin is our biggest tissue. In addition, Vitamin C helps the body produce collagen, which is a protein deemed important to make skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels (Mount Sinai).
My Experience
I wanted to share the above information to provide more context as to why you should choose Genestra Brands Hair, Skin and Nails. I believe that if you are informed you can make the best decision for your health.
With all the benefits this vitamin offers to your body, it also tastes great. Since adding the gummies into my life, I have noticed positive changes in my nails the most and my hair loss from postpartum has improved compared to where it was in the beginning months. Before my hair would fall out by just touching it, but now only when I brush it out.
If you made it this far, I hope you enjoyed this read and learned a little about my decision to incorporate Genestra Brands into my life. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or leave a comment.
As always thank you for making it this far Selfish Readers.
